Washburn N4 – the short story of my guitar

Here it is – my favourite guitar, the Washburn N4. I bought it around 2008, and with a lot of luck. It was listed online at an „attractive” price, but as a working student I couldn’t afford to spend two months’ wages at once. When I finally saved up the money, it was gone. My despair lasted about a month – until it appeared online again. This time I bought it straight away and worried about the money later 🙂

Every Nuno Bettencourt fan should play one at least once. The playability is out of this world and the comfort is from another galaxy. The sound can tear the air apart – it’s hard to describe, you have to hear it. A great pickup combination: a Bill Lawrence L-500 at the bridge and a Seymour Duncan ’59 at the neck.

Sometimes I think my guitar is quite special because of the metal logo, the metal back plates and the oil finish – the guitar is not lacquered, only oiled. The ebony fingerboard brings out hellishly sharp highs: clear and cutting like a razor.

The build is top class. The Stephens Extended Cutaway – a unique way of attaching the neck to the body – gives smooth access all the way up the neck, which is very handy if you like to wear your guitar low.
